Interested in joining a team that makes a difference in the lives of folks affected by MS? Join the MS Bike Cowichan Valley Committee! Our team of dedicated volunteers work together to make our event a huge success. Last year we raised over $320,000 for essential research, programs and services. Come and join in on the fun!

Rest Stop/Point of Interest (POI) Coordinator

To coordinate the Points of Interest/ Rest stops along the route and manage the purchases



Review the event SCOT report and equipment list from the previous year
Help recruit volunteers for POI, purchase pick-up and sorting and Rest Stop Set-up and Takedown
Familiarize yourself with POI and Rest Stop Equipment requirements
Familiarize yourself with the location and timing of rest stops and POIs requiring equipment
Identify and secure rest stops/point of interest along the route
Build relationships with the various points of interest on behalf of the MS Society
Work with the Route Coordinator to develop the daily schedule
Event Weekend

Coordinate distribution of food and water supplies for rest stops with the Food Coordinator
Transport and set up required equipment (tables, tents, chairs, water, etc.) at POI’s and Rest Stops on route Saturday and Sunday
Take down all POI and Rest Stop equipment after each event day.
Check in with POI’s during the event to pick up participant purchases and make sure volunteers are okay
Set-up and oversee the purchase pickup room on site
Take down the purchase pickup area after the event and give leftover purchases to the MS Society for follow-up
Train POI purchase keepers and purchase sorters on event weekend

Provide feedback on challenges you faced and opportunities to improve the event for the event SCOT report

Time Commitment:

Attend 3-7 monthly Committee meetings pre-event

Clear communication
Must be able to read a map
Must be able to do some heavy lifting (tents, coolers, tables, chairs)
Large vehicle for transport of equipment or comfortable driving a large truck or cube van
Valid driver’s license and insurance
